Let’s Know About : The New range of Lenovos (ThinkPad X100e,ThinkPad Edge and Skylight )

From 10.6 up to 13 inches: Lenovo is considering deep changes to meet the new uses of mobile professionals. The pc maker is particularly targeting them with 12 and 13 inches ultra-portable.

Lenovo is definitely on all fronts. After the all-in-One ThinkCentre A70z a PC presented recently ,the Chinese manufacturer is introducing new lines of ultra-mobile PC.

The first model introduced is the ThinkPad X100e. equipped with a 11.6 inches screen (WXGA 1366 x 768 HD powered by an ATI Radeon HD3200), it targets companies looking for a small professional computer. Weighing only 1.5 kilogrames, it features multiple connectivity options including Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth and 3G. Equipped with a multipoint touchpad and keyboard with extended keys, this PC is based on an AMD Athlon Neo (MV-40 or X2 L335) or Turion X2 L625, up to 4 GB of RAM and 320 GB disk drive.Even smaller and lighter (only 10.1 inches and 900 grams), the Skylight will be available in the second quarter of 2010 in the United States. It will offer an HD widescreen display and will be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon ARM processor (1 GHz) powered by a Linux distribution. Skylight is essentially targeting phone operators 3G deals.

Moreover, Lenovo is democratizing the Thinkpad which made its reputation with the new ThinkPad Edge. These models of 13, 14 or 15 inches are designed specifically for SMEs and demanding individuals. The 13-inch model is the first ThinkPad offering the dual-core technology from AMD Vision Pro. Lenovo announces eight hours of battery life. The keyboard has been simplified and some models like the ThinkPad Edge of 14 and 15 inches are equipped with a lighted keyboard. Some keys disappear in favor of new ones. The large multi-point touchpad was oversized to allow pinch, zoom and to scroll images easily. But fortunately for the regulars, the trackpoint is still there.


Finally, it’s the first Thinkpad available in red (no longer the traditional black) and equipped with speakers, a webcam and HD microphone. The Thinkpad Edge are Gold EPEAT certified and comply with Energy Star 5.0 specifications. They do not use synthetic foam and many materials come from 100% recyclable materials such as thermoplastic materials, sugar cane and sorghum.
