LetsKnowAbout : Sychronize Ubuntu

April 8th, 2010 admin No comments

The online storage service Ubuntu One now has a feature for synchronizing contacts on mobile phones. This new feature will be finalized for the release of Ubuntu Lucid Lynx.

Ubuntu One is the online storage service launched by Canonical with Ubuntu version 9.10 and then was expanded with Music Store.
Ubuntu One is available for free, but with only 2 GB of storage space, or as a monthly subscription of $ 10 for 50GB of data.

To enhance the services offered for the paying users of Ubuntu One, Canonical has announced the integration of a new feature: synchronization with mobile phones.

This new feature allows the owners of a mobile phone to synchronize with Ubuntu One and save the list of their contacts. synchronization will be proposed for the launch of Ubuntu Lucid Lynx.
To provide this service Canonical based on Funambol technology which develops open source software client for synchronization and push email. The editor supports multiple platforms and devices, including BlackBerry, Android and iPhone OS.

For Apple mobiles , Canonical provides its application (developed by Funambol), available on the iTunes Stores. For now, only the synchronization of contacts is proposed on Ubuntu One.
However, the application client developed by Funambol can also synchronize data from other mobiles, such as calendar and messages. It is therefore likely that in the near future Canonical will support these features on their backup service.

After it has invested a lot in PCs and servers sector, Dell is trying now a new foray into the sector of mobile telephony, integrating the market for smartphones, a promising and growing industry.

The Mini 3i It will be powered by the operating system OMS (Open Mobile System), the OS was developed by China Mobile and based on Google Android,Unfortunately this Smartphone is equipped only with the 2G and not 3G technology .it has also no keyboard and it will be equipped with a 3.5 inch screen multi-touch, and feature a camera of 3.2 megapixels and a GPS module.
