January 22nd, 2010 admin No comments

Google is everywhere , on your laptop , on your phone, and soon even on your outlet ( seriously it’s not a joke )
The Internet giant Google has asked the U.S. authorities for a permission to become a electricity merchant. This activity would reduce its costs, its carbon emanations but also perhaps to develop synergies.

According to a document filed with the U.S. Commission of Energy Regulation (FERC), the group, through its subsidiary Energy Google has applied to take a merchant status and “related rates” and an authorization to buy and sell on the energy markets.
Google says that if it had made its application to FERC is to have more flexibility in its supply of energy for its own activities, including its data centers.
A merchant Status will indeed increase, its ability to amortize its energy costs and to incorporate renewable energy in its energy portfolio.
Google’s efforts to locate its facilities near a major sources of energy such as hydroelectric dams, show the importance of their energy needs.
Google also was committed to reducing its CO2 emissions to achieve carbon neutrality and has reached it .
The group also announced that it will invest in green energy. It has launched also an electronic gauge, PowerMeter, a free software intended for individuals and companies to control their energy consumption.

Google has already been the year of the solar energy installations are most important for a company in the United States within the walls of its headquarters in Mountain View, California.
Google Affirms 9212 as well as solar panels producing 1.6 megawatts of electricity, the facility is able to supply 1000 homes in California, reduce our CO2 emissions and makes sense financially, because the investment is amortized in seven years and a half.

Let's Know About :Microsoft Hohm

Our planet is since few decades now involved in a vicious process that can lead to it’s end, and also our end :) , the groundwater is badly polluted and thousands animal and floral species have completely disappeared or are about to be extinct , and all this has one and unique cause , the development of technology .
During the 20th century, human being has been able to destroy what earth has build during hundreds thousands years.

Yes ,we are all for technology as long as it helps us live in a better world , but we are also all against pollution and energy excessive consumption which makes the thing going from bad to worse … I always hoped that science and research would find a solution to this massacre, and I used to think that unfortunately nothing has been developed in this sense until I heard about a new software called Hohm , of course it’s not going to save us and save our children but at least it will contribute to :) .

Microsoft has launched Hohm, a software which is able to accurately evaluate your energy consumption , making you able to be aware of how much energy do you waste and proposes solutions to avoid more wasting .The future is indeed ,in energy saving and the computer and Internet industry have understood that . Thus, following the example of the giant online search Google, Microsoft launched this software to calculate accurately your electricity consumption.

It proposes ways to reduce energy bills and It’s only Available in the U.S. right now , but it’s certain that this very useful tool will spread around the world soon.

Hohm was initially designed to help reduce consumers energy costs. But Microsoft hopes also that Hohm will also help lower the demand of energy, especially during peak times that can help save a lot of money both for the provider and the consumer .It’s also good to know that with Hohm, Microsoft is trying to face one of the latest and most powerful tools from Google called Powermeter .which is a widget that you can install on your computer so you can view in real time the amount of electricity being consumed in your house.

It seems that the leaders of technology such as Google and Microsoft feel that , there is a lot of money to make for energy saving, a reason that could explain why they invest a lot is such programs and all this for the benefit of mother earth and our children :)
Great isn’t it :)
